TrendForce analysts have noted a rapid increase in the share of contract manufacturing of laptops outside of China, writes British electronics magazine Electronics Weekly on August 22.
According to TrendForce, the proportion of contract manufacturing outside mainland China will grow to 12.4% by the end of 2024 from 7.2% in 2023. At the same time, Vietnam’s share is expected to increase to 6% and Thailand’s to 2.3%.
These market changes are largely related to the decisions of major American suppliers: Dell, Apple, HP. In particular, Thailand’s share is growing rapidly due to the joint efforts of HP and Quanta to develop contract manufacturing of laptops.
The report also notes that the share of laptops with integrated neural processors is still growing slowly. For businesses, this need is not obvious and the cost of the products is significantly higher than average.
