CSKA President: Zenit will be the favourites in the new season of the VTB United League

The main contender for victory in the upcoming season of the VTB United Basketball League is Zenit St. Petersburg, CSKA President Andrei Vatutin said, Sport-Express reported on August 27.

Vatutin expressed confidence that Zenit, thanks to quality acquisitions, will remain among the favourites for the new season.

“Zenit, as always, impressed with its important acquisitions. I am sure that the new basketball players will fit well into the team and St. Petersburg will once again be the favourites of the season.”Vatutin shared his opinion.

According to him, the team was hampered by injuries last season, but the club’s management tried to take these problems into account when putting together the squad.

Vatutin noted that other clubs in the league, including UNICS and Lokomotiv-Kuban, have also done significant work to strengthen their squads, which will make the upcoming championship especially interesting.

“Uralmash, Parma and other clubs made qualitative changes in the summer, it will be interesting”added the president of CSKA.

Recall that CSKA became the champion of the VTB United League in June this year, for the first time since 2021. In total, the military team has 11 victories in the tournament.
