A helicopter for intraregional transportation has arrived in Chukotka

The Mi-8MTV-1 helicopter, as part of the comprehensive program for the development of the aviation industry in Russia initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, has arrived at the Anadyr airport, the press service of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug Governor’s Office and Government reported on August 30.

The helicopter, manufactured by the Kazan Helicopter Plant of the Russian Helicopters holding, can carry 22 passengers. The aircraft’s flight range on main tanks is 620 kilometers at a speed of 230 kilometers per hour. The cabin provides for the installation of medical modules. The helicopter is capable of flying at temperatures down to -50 degrees.

According to Governor Vladislav Kuznetsov, the helicopter fleet will be replenished every year to meet the target: residents of each locality should be able to fly to Anadyr once a week.

Let us remind you that in Russia more than 40% of the territories are inaccessible and remote regions of the Arctic and the Arctic, which requires the use of aviation equipment to ensure uninterrupted air traffic and transport accessibility. In these regions, more than anywhere else, issues of increasing the volume of passenger and freight traffic, increasing the efficiency and reliability of operation in conditions of severe infrastructure and climatic restrictions are relevant.

The experience of the development of domestic aviation in the 1940s-1980s shows a direct connection between the level of development of aviation technology and the air transport network in remote and hard-to-reach regions and the degree of development and development of the polar regions of the Far North and the Far East.
