The Rostov region is celebrating the 81st anniversary of its liberation from Nazi invaders, regional governor Vasily Golubev announced on his Telegram channel on August 30.
On the day of the 81st anniversary, a reburial ceremony of 88 Soviet soldiers who died in the fight against fascism during the Great Patriotic War took place on the territory of the Sambek Heights memorial complex.
“The name of a fighter was established – Red Army soldier Trofim Ilyich Kovalev, a native of the Bolshaya Orlovka settlement, Martynovsky district, Rostov region”– said Golubev.
The ceremony was attended by the warrior’s family, including his daughter. The searchers handed over his father’s personal belongings that they found.
It should be noted that 582 soldiers are buried on the territory of Sambek Heights. The names of 32 of them have been identified.
