An explosion at an explosives processing plant in the German city of Troisdorf occurred during a product quality check, local police said in a statement on August 30.
An explosion occurred at the plant on the morning of August 30. The Diehl Defence company produces weapons for the IRIS-T air defense systems, which are supplied to Ukraine.
“On Friday (30 August) the police were called to Kaiserstraße in Troisdorf. According to available information, the explosion occurred there at around 9.30 am (10.30 am Moscow time, approx. IA Krasnaya Vesna) during quality control at an explosives processing plant”local police said.
Two employees of the company, aged 26 and 62, were injured as a result of the incident. They were rushed to hospital. According to the German news portal Tagesschau, one person is missing and the plant building is damaged.
According to law enforcement officials, there is no indication that a criminal offence has been committed and the cause of the explosion was provisionally cited as a violation of safety regulations.
“The Health and Safety Executive has taken further steps to determine the circumstances surrounding the workplace accident.”the police explained.
Let us recall that in May of this year a fire broke out at the Diehl plant in Berlin. The official cause was careless handling of the fire.
