The Iranian government has arrested them on charges of having received CIA training to foment the protests that have ravaged the country since September. Amini, arrested for wearing her veil incorrectly, died from the beatings she received while she was in police custody.
Iran’s intelligence services have accused the two journalists who revealed the case of Mahsa Amini of having been trained by the US National Intelligence Agency (CIA) to provoke the protests that have shaken the country for weeks.
The two reporters are Nilufar Hamedithe first journalist to report on Amini’s arrest and subsequent death and to publish photos of the young woman in hospital, and Elah Mohammadiwho covered the funeral of the 22-year-old girl, where the mobilizations began.
Iran has been experiencing protests since the death of Amini on September 16 after being arrested three days earlier by the Morale Police for wearing the islamic veil wronglymobilizations calling for the end of the Islamic Republic.
The Iranian Intelligence Ministry and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Intelligence Organization have accused the two informants of receive CIA training into “hybrid warfare” to foment protests.
The journalist of the reformist newspaper Shargh was arrested on September 21, is in solitary confinement and has not been informed of the charges that led to her arrest, according to her husband Mohamed Hosein Ajorlou on Twitter.
Mohammadi works for the daily Hammihan and went arrested on September 22when members of the security forces entered his house breaking down the door and confiscated his computer and mobile.
