European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will meet with King Charles III on Monday at Windsor Castle in England. This meeting is taking place within the framework of the European leader’s visit to the UK.
According to Reuters, Ursula von der Leyen is visiting the UK to meet British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and review the new trade terms between the British and EU member states. But it was announced that the European leader would also meet with King Charles III.
Criticism arose of King Charles III’s meeting with Ursula von der Leyen, as the monarch could not interfere in political affairs. However, a Buckingham Palace spokesman said: “The King is delighted to meet any world leader visiting the UK.”
