Two men, aged 28 and 37, ran a scheme in Setúbal that covered all stages of the cannabis trade: they planted, cultivated, harvested, processed and sold. They were the target of an operation by the GNR Intervention Unit and were eventually apprehended by GNR Special Forces. One of the detainees is actor Thiago Mesquita, a participant in the TVI series Bando dos 4.
They had “advanced knowledge of all stages of production: sowing, germination, harvesting and drying,” according to GNR. Three varieties (oil and resin, leaves and tops) were converted into cannabis, which they packaged and sold.
More than 70 kg of hemp leaves and various equipment were seized from the greenhouses.
The detainees on Thursday were held in pre-trial detention.
