Russia today announced its return to the agreement signed with Ukraine to guarantee grain exports, after breaking it last weekend in retaliation for an attack on its fleet in the Black Sea.
The Russian Defense Ministry has said it has obtained “sufficient” guarantees from Ukraine through the UN and Turkey that kyiv will not use the grain export corridor for military purposes, allowing the deal to resume.
The president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has also confirmed Russia’s return to the agreement. “Russian Defense Minister (Sergei) Shoigu has called our Defense Minister (Hulusi) Akar and said that from today at 12:00 the grain corridor will continue to operate as before,” he said. .
After speaking on Tuesday with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, today he plans to do so with the Ukrainian, Volodimir Zelensky, according to the Anatolia agency.
