According to aviation monitoring websites, the Pentagon activated two RC-135 surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft on Tuesday.
The US has already sent another reconnaissance aircraft yesterday after the start of the Freedom Shield exercise based on a simulation of a North Korean attack in the south of the peninsula, EFE reported.
The exercise, jointly conducted by the United States and South Korea, will last until March 23.
Allies have warned that North Korea, which has promised an “unprecedented response” to the exercise, is ready to conduct a new nuclear test, and some experts believe the regime may choose to test its first ICBM.
