A 12-year-old Brazilian girl living in Rio de Janeiro and missing since the 6th was released from captivity in the city of Sao Luis, the capital of the state of Maranhao, more than three thousand kilometers from home. The child was abducted and taken to Maranhao in northeastern Brazil by a 25-year-old man whom he met on TikTok and who was arrested red-handed.
The release of the minor a week after the abduction was made possible thanks to the close cooperation of the Rio de Janeiro and Maranhao police. The police in Rio de Janeiro looked through the girl’s social networks and managed to find the messages that she exchanged with the man, and the Maranhao police identified and arrested him.
Arriving at a location identified as a possible capture, the operatives confirmed that the minor had been locked in a small studio apartment with no way out or contact with his family. Medical examinations will be carried out to confirm that the minor has had sexual intercourse with her abductor, who is already accused of kidnapping and captivity and who can still be accused of rape.
According to investigators, the man and the girl began exchanging messages on TikTok two years ago, when she was only 10 years old. On the day of the abduction, she agreed to meet an adult who was flying from San Luis to Rio de Janeiro. and went to wait for her when she left school.
However, what the minor expected to be just a date turned into a kidnapping as the man took her in an application car he had rented in Maranhao for a trip that lasted four days and cost 727 euros. The driver of the car on the application is also under investigation, and he will have to explain why he agreed to such an unusual race, and whether he knew that the girl was being kidnapped.
