Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday that an agreement allowing the export of Ukrainian grains from the Black Sea ports has been extended. The agreement expired this Saturday, and the Turkish president did not name an extension.
“Today, the agreement on the grain corridor expires. As a result of our negotiations with both sides, we have achieved an extension of this agreement,” Erdogan said in his speech in the city of Canakkale.
Previously, Russia had asked for an extension of the agreement by just 60 days, which is half the duration of the previous extension period, while Ukraine insisted on a 120-day extension.
The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine said that the agreement was extended for 120 days, Reuters reported.
