Farewell to Queen Elizabeth II, day by day

This Sunday, September 11, the mortal remains of the queen have been transferred from Balmoral Castle to Edinburgh, where they will remain until the 13th. The state funeral at Westminster Abbey in London on September 19 will close the protocol funeral.

Buckingham Palace has disclosed the plan that stipulates how the farewell of the mortal remains of the Queen isabel IIwhich will culminate in state funeral at Westminster Abbey on September 19.

11 OF SEPTEMBER

Around 10:00 local time (09:00 GMT), the royal procession with the coffin where Elizabeth II rests has left Balmoral Castle heading for edinburghwhere he arrived this afternoon, after a 6-hour journey, to Holyrood Palace.

The procession has traveled more than 280 kilometers passing through the towns of Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen, Angus and Tayside before reaching the capital of Scotland.

SEPTEMBER 12

In the afternoon, a procession will form in the courtyard of the Palace of Holyroodhouse to accompany the coffin to Saint Giles Cathedral, in the same city. King Carlos III and members of the Royal Family will participate in the procession and in a later religious service in the temple to receive the mortal remains.

A funeral chapel begins in the cathedral so that the Scots can say goodbye to the queen, whose body will be guarded by the Royal Company of Archers.

SEPTEMBER 13TH

The coffin leaves in the afternoon from Edinburgh airport on a plane from the Air Force (RAF) to Northolt aerodrome, west of London, accompanied by Princess Anne, daughter of Elizabeth II. From there it is transferred by road to Buckingham Palacewhere he will rest in the circular room called the Bow Room, where the queen used to offer lunch to visiting heads of state.

SEPTEMBER 14

The coffin is transferred in procession in a carriage (cart for transporting cannons) of the Royal Mounted Artillery to the Palace of Westminster, seat of the British Parliament, where a burning chapel at westminster hall (the oldest building in the complex) for four days, until the state funeral.

Once the body arrives at the scene, through the streets of the political center of the capital, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Primate of the Anglican Church, will officiate a religious service accompanied by the Dean of Westminster, David Hoyle, in which they will be present the king and his family.

FROM SEPTEMBER 15 TO 18

Burning Chapel “of State” of Queen Elizabeth. Thousands of people are expected to pass through Westminster Hall to bid their final farewell to the monarch.

SEPTEMBER 19TH

In the morning, the coffin will be moved in procession the few meters between Westminster Hall and Westminster Abbey for the celebration of the state funeral at 11:00 local time (10:00 GMT).

At the end of the funeral, Elizabeth II will be transferred to the Arch of Wellington and from there to St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, on the outskirts of London. In that place a last religious service will take place before Elizabeth II is buried.
