Prosecutors in Maputo province in southern Mozambique have filed drug trafficking charges against a Mozambican and a Tanzanian belonging to a network with “international ramifications,” the organization said on Thursday.
“The defendants are part of a criminal organization with international ramifications that is involved in the transportation, storage and sale of drugs inside and outside the country, with a focus on South Africa,” prosecutors said in a statement. province of Maputo.
The targets were detained following a complaint about the presence of drugs in a house in Campoane district, Boane district, Maputo province.
The residence was rented by a foreign citizen who is at large, the note specifies.
Another foreigner escaped from prison after being detained as part of the same process, the statement said.
Authorities seized 22 cars, two boats and more than 9.6 million metiqai (€136,500) in cash as a result of the investigation.
