Thousands of teachers who were left without progress during the freeze will not be able to take advantage of the career boosters offered by the Department of Education (DOE) for those who were waiting for vacancies at the 4th and 6th levels. Frustrated by the proposal, which “does not restore a single day of frozen time,” the nine unions on the platform are starting a new neighborhood strike this Monday in Porto.
A number of DOE requirements leave those who entered the profession before 2005/2006 without recovery but “did not fully complete the 3,411 days of freeze”, unions said after a technical meeting with the DOE. “The offer is even more onerous, exclusive and unfair than it was supposed to be,” the union platform says.
Teachers who did not have a full day on August 30 and 31, 2005, or who were not posted on those two days, are also excluded.
Teachers who were sick for more than 30 days during the first freeze period (August 30, 2005 to December 31, 2007) will also not receive compensation.
The exception also applies to those who during the two freezes were not part of ME public schools, who were placed in autonomous regions, or who did not work during the 3,411 days of the freeze, always full-time.
According to the DOE, the proposal accelerates the career progression of 60,000 teachers. On the other hand, the National Association of School Principals believes that only 12,600 people can progress faster.

No minimum services
The stop that starts this Monday always starts at 12:00 every day, because the platform wanted to avoid booking minimum services in this way.
