The Angolan government is about to set up a cybersecurity academy in Luanda to deal with a “very large shortage” of personnel in this area, the minister of telecommunications, information technology and social communications said today.
Mario Oliveira, at the press conference announcing the 10th Cybersecurity Forum in Luanda on May 10, mentioned the opening of a cybersecurity academy that aims to certify young Angolan recent graduates in cybersecurity-related tools. .
“The science is that, unfortunately, in our country there is still a very large shortage of personnel in this matter,” the minister said.
According to the minister, the creation of a cybersecurity academy will make it possible to train several young people and bring them to the market in order to ensure the security of the national cyberspace.
“Because we understand that this is the only way that we will actually make a big contribution so that in the very near future we can ensure the security of our networks, because it is useless for us to have laws that require legal entities to adhere to this or that to punish this or Otherwise, it makes no sense to have only the technology itself,” he stressed.
The representative of Angola underlined that “a very serious concern is the training of personnel in this matter”, stressing that “the academy will be established in partnership with a special company that has some experience in this matter.”
According to the minister, there are already other academies in Luanda, namely the Institute of Telecommunications, where the Cisco, Huawei and Microsoft academies are located.
“It adds value to what we already have today and what we have been doing all these years,” he said.
