Priest robbed and brutally attacked by three men in Felgueiras

Father Joaquim Carneiro, who is about 70 years old, was brutally attacked late Thursday night when he arrived at the parish house in Vila Cova da Lixa, where he lives. He was approached by three men with covered faces, who punched and kicked him and allegedly took a large sum of money.

According to the account cmThe priest was returning home around midnight and noticed a noise coming from the yard. “When I look, I see three people with covered faces who started attacking me, but I didn’t understand what they were saying,” he explained.

After these attacks, they entered the house, tied the victim with a thread to a chair and took a large amount of money, starting on the run.

After the robbery, the victim managed to free himself and independently went to the Lix fire department, where he was treated and taken to the Padre America Hospital in Penafiel with injuries to various parts of the body, mainly on the face. .

After providing assistance in the hospital, the priest was discharged and is recovering. Father Joaquim Carneiro lives in the parish house of Vila Cova da Xabler but provides services in the parishes of Varzea and Varziela, as well as in the municipality of Felgueiras.
