DGS tightens siege on popular festivals

A Directorate General of Health (DGS) regulation published this month introduced new public health rules for mass gatherings of more than a thousand people. Popular parties, festivals and other events must now rely on the support of doctors, nurses, firefighters and ambulances with basic and advanced life support.

The organizers must send a form to the SRS 30 days before the event, indicating risk factors such as “duration, number of participants, expected presence of potentially competing groups, previous history of the event, access to alcoholic beverages, weather conditions and typology of nearby medical facilities.” unit”.

Based on these criteria, a low, medium, high or high risk rating is assigned, which determines the support that the organizers must provide. For example, 4 to over 200 first responders may be required; from 1 to 9 doctors and nurses; and from one to over 15 ambulances. Several mayors have already warned that many events could be in jeopardy due to a lack of professionals.
