According to Statistics Iceland, published by Observatório da Emigração, in 2022 the number of Portuguese people who emigrated to Iceland reached the second highest figure in this century.
Last year, 360 Portuguese entered Iceland, representing 2.3% of the total number of foreigners who entered the country: 15,438 people.
“After a slight increase in the number of Portuguese arriving in Iceland in 2021, emigration to this country will increase again in 2022 with the entry of 360 Portuguese, corresponding to an increase of 76.5% compared to 2021,” the note says. Emigration Observatory.
Between 2000 and 2022, the lowest number of Portuguese entries to Iceland was in 2002 (seven entries) and the highest in 2004 (520 entries).
In 2004, Portuguese emigration accounted for about one-fifth of the foreigners who entered the country.
