Icelandic low-cost airline Play announced on Wednesday it will begin flying between Faro and Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, from April 2025, with twice-weekly flights.
The new direct service, scheduled to begin on April 12 next year, will operate on Saturdays and Wednesdays until October 29, Play said in a statement.
Tickets for new direct flights between Faro’s Gago Coutinho International Airport and Iceland’s capital are now available on the company’s website.
“With the addition of Faro to our growing network, we are excited to offer travelers more ways to explore the world in an affordable way,” says Play’s CEO, quoted in the note.
According to Einar Orn Olafsson, the new route reflects the company’s desire to connect North America and Europe via Iceland, “providing passengers with exceptional service.”
Play is a low-cost airline connecting North America and Europe with a hub in Iceland.
According to the company, “passengers can take advantage of a unique stopover option that allows them to explore Iceland for up to 10 days at no additional cost before continuing on their transatlantic journey.”
