The Judicial Police (PJ) announced on Monday that a 40-year-old woman has been arrested to serve an effective sentence for drug trafficking in the Aveiro region.
The police statement explains that the group to which the woman belonged was dismantled in July 2020 during an investigation by the Aveiro Criminal Investigation Department.
The group, the text says, “had been involved in the domestic trade in heroin, cocaine, marijuana and hashish in the Aveiro region, using various supply channels, depending on the type of drug in question.”
The arrest, announced this Monday, was made in accordance with warrants issued by the Judicial Court of the District of Aveiro.
On July 16, 2020, the SP announced the liquidation of a criminal group of 11 people who allegedly sold drugs in the municipalities of Ilhavo, Vagos, Oliveira do Bairo, Agueda and Mira, as well as the confiscation of firearms and ammunition.
The police operation was carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department of Aveiro PJ in cooperation with the Northern and Central Directorates, the Criminal Investigation Departments of Leiria and Vila Real, and the National Republican Guard with several of its units.
“Following investigations into highly violent crimes related to drug trafficking (…) [a PJ procedeu] to conduct a police operation that resulted in the liquidation of a group engaged in the commission of crimes related to drug trafficking, ”the police said in a statement at the time.
The SP added that “during the 37 searches carried out in the municipalities of Ilhavo, Vagos, Oliveira do Bairro, Agueda (all in the Aveiro region) and Mira (Coimbra), various drugs were seized, namely Liamba. , hashish, and cocaine, as well as some firearms, shotguns, pistols, and various ammunition.”

All the detainees already had a criminal record or police certificates for the same type of crime, and some of them had already served effective terms of imprisonment.
At the time, the detainees, five women and six men aged between 18 and 54, without any known professional activity, were presented to the competent judicial authority in Comarque Aveiro, seven of whom were sentenced to compulsory preventive measures. detention.
