The Public Security Police (PSP) said this Thursday that nine young people, some of them minors, were arrested for stealing during the Saturday-Sunday football championship celebrations in Lisbon.
The PSP said in a statement that the group includes a 15-year-old and eight teenagers aged 16 to 18 who were detained in the area of Marquês de Pombal Square.
The robbery suspects were arrested after “detailed descriptions” and were in possession of four mobile phones, two of which belonged to “victims who reported the crimes minutes earlier, identifying the perpetrators of the theft on the spot,” police describe.
The rest of the mobile phones were confiscated because their owners are unknown, amounting to property damage of 1,600 euros.
The arrests were made by the Lisbon Metropolitan Command through the Criminal Investigation Division and the detainees were brought before the court for questioning, three of whom were subjected to enforcement measures in the form of weekly performances; two-week presentations to one; and three weeks of presentations for two young people.
The 15-year-old minor was handed over to his mother “to be brought before the juvenile court at the place of residence for the application of a preventive measure,” the PSP emphasizes, adding that two other teenagers were released without coercion.
