The European Commission (EC) can force member states of the European Union to exclude “high-risk” providers when implementing 5G network technologies, namely those located outside the EU, NATO or the OECD, among other criteria. Among them will be the Chinese Huawei. EU Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton informed the European in charge of telecommunications portfolios that only a third of countries have introduced bans in critical areas of 5G network implementation.
