The Union of Registry Office Workers and Notaries (STRN) accused the government of promoting the RRP and not fulfilling the announced investments in technological improvement and IT renewal of the registry office, “where everything is lacking.”
According to a statement released Tuesday by the union, the investment announced by the executive as part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) “contrasts with real conditions on the ground, i.e. in greenhouses where everything is in short supply” and where “an outdated computer park” is forcing ” permanently stop and restart” the system, an operation that can take 15 minutes and is conditional.
Computers and printers that are over 15 years old and outdated operating systems are some of the issues the union points out, which says it’s the sector’s workers who want “the vaunted digitization” most of all.
“Everyone is desperate for hardware upgrades, the necessary interoperability between different applications, the use of artificial intelligence as a tool to support the qualification of various acts and registration procedures,” supports STRN. However, it promotes the structure of the union “Unfortunately, we are still far from this reality, which at the moment is only an appearance and is still pure propaganda,” the union criticized.
STRN believes that “the country is going through a critical moment where there can be no failure” and that a full implementation of the PDP is needed, with investment in “structural reforms” that “should be well designed and properly tested” to avoid the “mistakes of the past” and develop “really reliable and adequate solutions for the registration sector and for the country.”
