A 32-year-old man who attacked his ex-girlfriend on Sunday, smashed the windshield of her car with a rock and set fire to the house where he lives with his parents in Igreja Nova, Barcelos, was arrested on Monday by the Judicial Police (PJ) from Braga after being discharged from the hospital. He is charged with crimes of fire, domestic violence and causing damage with violence.
The crimes were committed after he quarreled with his ex-girlfriend. In addition to attacking her and destroying her car, the man barricaded himself in the bedroom and set fire to the mattress and closet. After the fire, the house was completely destroyed. Two sisters, the “former” and the mother even tried to put out the fire, but in the end they were injured and received medical assistance.
The suspect was also hospitalized due to smoke inhalation. During his stay in the hospital, he provoked disagreements with the medical team, which forced the police to intervene. He was arrested shortly after being discharged. It is this Wednesday to submit to the judge in the Court of Barcelos.
