A Coimbra judicial court has sentenced a man to four and a half years in prison for setting fire to a car that was part of the Queima das Fitas de Coimbra procession, the district attorney’s office said on Wednesday.
In information available on its website, the District Attorney of the District of Coimbra referred to the fact that the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Local Criminal Court of Coimbra presented a 30-year-old detainee for trial in summary proceedings on June 6 “for the practice of the crime of arson, explosions and other especially dangerous acts , as well as the crime of resisting and coercing an official”.
“The court considered proven all the facts set forth in the indictment, in which the defendant confessed, awarding him a one-time sentence of four years and six months in prison,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
