The Cape Verdean Judicial Police (PJ) said Wednesday that former Cape Verdean presidential candidate Gilson Alves has been arrested on suspicion of committing a number of crimes on the island of Sao Vicente.
The JV statement said the arrest was made by the Criminal Investigation Department in San Vicente, through its Crimes Against the Person Brigade, on Tuesday outside the scene of the crime.
The 41-year-old man is suspected of committing a crime of murder in the form of attempted murder, attacks on physical integrity and threats.
According to the joint venture, the indictments took place in the Cha de Alekrim region between March and June, following a disagreement between the suspect and an unidentified victim, with the use of firearms and bladed weapons.
Gilson Alves was heard before the Comarca San Vicente Judicial Court, which applied preventive detention as a measure of coercion.
The now delayed candidate for President of the Republic of Cape Verde in 2021, with 0.8% of the vote.
In addition to Gilson Alves, Jose Maria Neves (51.7%), Carlos Veiga (42.4%), Casimiro Pina (1.8%), Fernando Rocha Delgado (1.4%), Elio Sanchez (1 ,1 %). %) and Joaquim Monteiro (0.7%).
