Two new cases of monkeypox were reported in Portugal this Monday, according to the Directorate General of Health (DGS). At stake are two men “who did not travel and reported sporadic sexual encounters.”
The incident occurred about three months later with no new cases and a month after The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the end of the virus a global health emergency.
According to DGS, two cases “to strengthen prevention and control measures in the cross-border context of infection, therefore, the General Directorate of Health recommends that measures be taken to isolate cases until the lesions crust and vaccinate contacts necessary to break the chains of transmission and prevent outbreaks.
