The state collected a total of 19,203.1 million euros in taxes collected between January and May this year, amounting to 128 million euros per day, according to the budget execution report of the Budget Directorate General (DGO) published this Friday. .
Taken together, the document shows an increase in tax revenue of 1,520.7 million euros compared to the same period last year, i.e. an increase of 8.6%. The Ministry of Finance, led by Fernando Medina, justifies this result with “positive IRS dynamics of 16.1% (+726.3 million euros) and VAT of 4.7% (+426.6 million euros)”, although “the breakdown of ISP [Imposto sobre os Produtos Petrolíferos] by 18.4% (-254.4 million euros).”
In terms of public accounts, the authorities indicate that the total surplus of public administrations was 722.3 million euros, which means “an improvement of 1,046.4 million euros compared to the same period last year,” according to DGO. However, the budget balance in May retreated from the surplus of 962 million registered before April.
