Eight men and eight women, aged 22 to 41, were arrested last month on suspicion of fraud. The offenses were committed through the MB Way platform, the damage amounted to 60 thousand euros.
“It was possible to identify a group of suspects who fraudulently and through the specified platform appropriated various amounts through purchases / payments, cash withdrawals or even illegal access to banking data,” PSP explains in a statement sent to the editors.
The police operation, supported by the GNR, took place at various locations in Lisbon, Loures, Amadora, Évora and Portalegre. There were 29 home search warrants, six outdoor search warrants, and fifteen arrest warrants.
During the investigation, three firearms, three pneumatic guns, about four thousand euros in banknotes and several gold coins worth about one hundred thousand euros were seized.
The detainees will appear before the competent judicial authority at the Judicial Court of Comarca Lisbon-Norte-Lures.
