Morphine ampoules stolen from car on INEM property

The National Institute for Emergency Medical Services (INEM) emergency response vehicle was stolen while it was parked at the INEM logistics base in Lumiare, Lisbon. 10 ampoules of morphine were stolen from the car. The theft was discovered only during a scheduled inventory of cars parked on the property. INEM says it is investigating the incident.

According to the National Association of Emergency Medicine Specialists (ANTEM), “morphine is a narcotic drug with high analgesic power used primarily for the relief of severe, acute and chronic pain” from the opioid group. The theft “is another episode of sheer seriousness that exposes INEM’s malfunction,” he accuses.
