President Chegi announced this Saturday an appeal against the decision of the Constitutional Court (CC), which invalidated the convening of the last party congress, which in practice invalidates decisions taken, such as the election of a leader.
“We are going to appeal to the Constitutional Court,” Andre Ventura said at a press conference held at the party’s headquarters in Lisbon, expressing optimism that the appeal would win.
“We have a number of decisions in recent months in which Chega was right. The NK should make its decision only when the internal possibilities of the parties for appeal have been exhausted,” he said.
Although he clarified that the party had not yet been notified of the decision of the TC, Ventura assured that “the position of the party remains exactly the same, and all bodies remain until a final decision is made.”
The Constitutional Court (CC) declared the convening of the 5th National Assembly of Chega invalid on Friday following a protest submitted by the party’s number three activist, Fernanda Marques López, who has already filed an appeal with the party’s Council of National Jurisdiction. but received no response.
Consequently, with the annulment of the notice, the decisions made by this assembly are null and void, including the election of new bodies and the re-election of André Ventura as president.
