A young man who lives in Santa Maria da Feira, Aveiro district, was sentenced to one year and four months’ probation for distributing child pornography files on the Internet, according to a court decision seen by Lusa this Monday.

The court found that between May 26 and August 12, 2020, the defendant, a 22-year-old computer engineer, uploaded 29 files of children and teenagers having sex via social networks and shared these files with other people. Discord networks.

The public ministry charged the defendant with 29 aggravated juvenile pornography offenses, but the court realized that he should be punished for only one offense, given that “temporal proximity points to one criminal decision.”

Thus, the defendant was found guilty of the crime of juvenile pornography with aggravated punishment of one year and four months in prison with a suspended sentence for the same period with a probationary regime that included visits to rehabilitation programs for sexual aggressors of children. and young people.

According to the decision of the court of Santa Maria da Feira, the defendant was granted a special leniency of the sentence in connection with the application to him of a special regime for minors.

In addition to the prison term, he was also sentenced to the additional penalties of being banned from a profession involving contact with minors and accepting the trust of minors for five years.

“Defendant acted for the purpose of redistributing such files to other members of the same platform, disclosing, displaying and giving them away as a way to subsequently obtain more of the same type of material, thereby fueling a dynamic and transactional flow of material from pedophilia,” reads the judgment from June 28th.
