Dozens of dogs were abandoned in Quinta Prates, in Vendas Novas, which belonged to bullfighting rider Antonio Prates and his father, former rider José Prates blames the IRA group – Intervenção e Resgate Animal.
The new owner assured the IRA that he found about 50 abandoned animals, as well as a man from Bangladesh in inhuman conditions.
In a video posted on social media, an IRA member says he found seven abandoned dogs. The institution posted a Facebook post this Wednesday, reporting seven animals “full of fleas and ticks, ears literally eaten and raw flesh.”
According to the IRA, one of the dogs had his neck slashed for using a tight rope for a long time.
Knight Antonio Prates assured cm that the farm “was sold six months ago” and denies the animals were abandoned.
The case is reminiscent of another that happened to João Moura, a bullfighting rider who abandoned 18 emaciated greyhounds on his property in Monfort in 2020 and will face trial for animal cruelty in September.
