A total of 3,900 PSP and GNR members will be promoted this year, according to the promotional guidelines published this Friday in Diário da República.
Of the 3,900 promoted security forces, 1,548 are police officers from the Public Security Police and 2,352 are soldiers from the National Republican Guard.
In the decrees, the Government justifies these increases as “an urgent need to ensure the proper functioning” of the PSP and the NDP by upgrading the police and military to hierarchical categories and to direct positions, “ensuring the provision of jobs and permanent positions.” corresponding organic” police and military with legally corresponding categories and positions.
“Taking into account the level of responsibility inherent in the functions performed, and taking into account the special significance of the powers entrusted to them, thereby ensuring the regularity of their exercise and their effective implementation,” read the reports signed by the Minister of the Interior and the secretaries of state for the budget, replacing the Minister of Finance, and of Public Administration.
In the case of the PSP, most of the promotions will be in the Agent category, with 726 people becoming Lead Agents, followed by 300 bosses who will be promoted to Lead Agents, and 250 Prime Agents who will become Lead Agents.
Police promotion rewards go into effect on Saturday, while GNR positions open for 2022, so “they are effective from the date the promotion law goes into effect.”
Most promotions in the GNR are from Corporal to Master Corporal (916), Master Guard to Corporal (595), and Guard to Master Guard (431).
