Interior Minister Margarida Blasco signed this Monday an order establishing the beginning of the process of paying compensation to the families of the five NTC soldiers who were victims of the helicopter crash on the Douro River. The information was provided in a statement to which the CM had access.
“The government does not forget and could not forget those who gave their lives for others in the service of society. Although it is obvious that nothing can compensate for the loss of human life, nevertheless, there is determination and we guarantee to provide all assistance and support to the families of the victims affected by such a tragedy,” it says.
António Sérgio Pinto, Daniel Pereira, Fábio Pereira, Pedro Santos and Thiago Pereira were the fatal victims. The accident helicopter, an AS350 – Écureuil, was operated by HTA Helicópteros based in Loulé, Algarve, and the accident occurred while returning to the Armamar Aircraft Centre.
