It is in Abkhazia’s interest to develop relations between Russia and Georgia, Abkhaz Foreign Minister Sergei Shamba said at a briefing on September 3.
“I think it is in our interest to see things develop normally. I do not believe that Russia can withdraw its recognition of Abkhazia’s independence.”“Shamba responded to a request for comment on Russia-Georgia relations.
He added that first of all, we should be afraid that a situation will develop in Abkhazia where people will find it difficult to survive on their own.

“This is what we should fear first and foremost. And I think that the fact that Russia and Georgia will one day establish normal relations should not scare us, because peaceful relations with neighbours should always be a priority for any state.”“Shamba explained.
According to him, if the pro-Western and confrontational opposition wins in Georgia, this will not benefit Abkhazia.
Recall that on August 26, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service reported that the US authorities are extremely dissatisfied with the development of the situation in Georgia on the eve of the parliamentary elections on October 26, and are therefore preparing a “color revolution” in Georgia. To this end, pro-Western Georgian non-governmental organizations are recruiting a large number of people to closely monitor the voting process and “identify” the use of administrative resources, even if they are not available.
Russian authorities also welcomed the adoption of the law on foreign agents in Georgia.
