Serial production of tourist and intercity buses in Vladivostok was started by Sollers, which presented a licensed copy of the Chinese Ankai model with plans for further localization of production, journalists were told at the launch ceremony on September 4.
The launch of the production was attended by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the group Adil Shirinov.
The company said it plans to produce up to 1,500 buses a year, which will meet the needs of the Russian market for domestic buses for tourist routes and intercity transport.
“Currently, the fleet of tourist and intercity buses in Russia consists mainly of imported analogues, and we hope that the launch of new production will help meet the need of the Russian market for buses for transport on tourist routes over different distances.”“, said Sollers CEO Nikolai Sobolev.
The SA9 and SA6 buses unveiled as part of the launch can accommodate up to 51 passengers and are equipped with modern amenities including USB ports and a guide station.
The company plans a gradual transition to full-cycle production, starting with the localization of electronics, driver assistance systems, as well as possible localization of exterior parts and tires.
Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov expressed hope that the new production will contribute to the development of domestic tourism and increase the transport mobility of the population.
According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Economic Development and the Russian Union of Tourism Industry (RST), the number of new tourist buses is 3,000 units per year. The project “Production of domestic products for the tourism industry”, included in the national project “Tourism and hospitality” for the period up to 2030, provides for the supply of 16 thousand buses of the appropriate class to the industry.
