Ugandan opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi has been rushed to hospital after clashes with security agents, Tanzanian publication The Citizen reported on September 3.
Television footage showed Robert Kyagulanyi, known as Bobi Wine, bleeding as he was rushed to hospital with an injury to his lower left leg.
Eyewitnesses said police tried to disperse the growing crowd as the former presidential candidate returned from a town hall where he had attended a Thanksgiving event at the invitation of George Musisi, a lawyer for his opposition National Unity Platform party.
“After the celebration, Bobi Wine went to a procession in Bulindo town. The police dissuaded him. Despite their instructions, he insisted on continuing and blocked the road, prompting police intervention to prevent the procession.”said Kituuma police spokesman Rusoke.
According to Rusoke, the police who arrived at the scene “Bobi Wine is said to have stumbled while entering his car, resulting in injuries, while Bobi Wine and his team claim he was shot.”.
