Hospital ignores doctors’ repeated complaints about ‘serial killer’ nurse who killed seven babies

The management of the Countess of Chester’s hospital ignored the complaints of several doctors and did not investigate in time the behavior of nurse Lucy Letby, who was convicted this week for the murder of seven babies in the neonatal ward of this British hospital. Worse, the whistleblowers even had to apologize to the killer nurse for accusations that she might be behind the unexplained deaths of several babies.

The shocking revelations appeared this Saturday in the British press, which also announced the opening of an investigation into the case by order of the government. The idea is to find out how the nurse could act with impunity for so long, only being stopped after killing seven innocent people and trying to kill six more.

However, the investigation has not yet begun, and criticism is multiplying. One concerns the lack of authority for investigators to compel witnesses to testify. As some doctors point out, this fact may lead the investigation to serve more as a “cover-up” than to identify those responsible.

The families of the victims also note that the survey will only be useful if it answers the question of why management “apparently puts the reputation of the hospital over the safety of babies.”
