Wants enough to gather support to send “More Housing” Diploma to the Constitutional Court if confirmed

This Monday, Chega announced its intention to try to win the support of other parties in order to submit a request to the Constitutional Court to verify the housing diploma, which was vetoed by the President of the Republic this Monday if it is confirmed in Parliament.

“Chega welcomes the veto of the Mais Habitação program and is perplexed that the PS is preparing unilaterally and arrogantly to confirm the diploma in the Assembly of the Republic,” Andre Ventura said at a press conference at the party’s headquarters. , in Lisbon.

President Chega indicated that if the diploma is validated and the President of the Republic is “obliged to sign it”, the party will seek “parliamentary support to submit to the Constitutional Court the examination of the Mais Habitação diploma”.

Ventura pointed out that this diploma “grossly violates Portuguese law and the Constitution.”

According to the Constitution, “one tenth of the deputies of the Assembly of the Republic”, that is, 23 parliamentarians, can demand a consistent review of the constitutionality of the current law.

Chega’s parliamentary bench consists of 12 deputies, which is not enough to submit a request to the Constitutional Court.
