Famalican, one less, holds nil at home against Moreirense

Famalicán, down one player since the end of the first half, managed to draw at home to Moreirense in the second round of the Portuguese First League.

João Pedro Souza made two changes to the match against Sporting de Braga, removing Dobre and Liimatta from the starting line-up and adding Enrique Araujo and Aranda. Rui Borges repeated the team that played against Porto.

The match began with an episode that shook the stadium. A brutal head-on between Dinis Pinto, defender Moreirense, and Francisco Moura, striker Famalicao, led to a quick breakup of the meeting that ended the second round.

Dinis Pinto left in a worse condition, as a result he was carried off the field on a stretcher and already with a neck brace. He was then taken in an ambulance to the hospital. Moura remained in the game, but the Moreira team player de Conegosha gave way to Fabiano.

However, this move did not sway Moreirense, who came out stronger and dominated for the first 45 minutes.

The first dangerous move came in the 13th minute when Alan made a cross, forcing Luis Junior into a tight defense.

Moreirense threatened a series of moves before the break, with Franco in the spotlight. In the 41st minute, he missed by several inches.

Even before the teams went to the dressing rooms and to further complicate an already difficult task for Famalicao, Pablo received his second yellow card and left the home team reduced to 10 for the second half of the match.

However, contrary to all expectations, Famalican reacted positively. João Pedro Souza made changes to the team and managed to handle the pressure from Moreirense.

The hosts, who celebrated their 92nd birthday, managed to close the paths to their own goal and with the help of a different strategy, more dynamic, allowed to create more dangerous situations at the opponent’s goal.

Nevertheless, it was Moreirense who first came close to scoring a goal. At 62, Aparicio appeared in front of Luis Junior, but the goalkeeper managed to correct the situation and reflect the goal.

In response, Zaydu’s half-turn kick forced Kevin to intervene.

The last minutes turned out to be balanced: Famalican managed to cope well with the numerical gap, and Moreirense was losing strength throughout the game and already in the last minutes he could hardly overcome the protective barrier of the familicenses.
