Five boats, three of which were high speed, were used in the high seas chase that ended in the arrest of a “flying” boat suspected of being used in drug trafficking. Three men of Spanish nationality, aged between 28 and 35, have been identified.
The operation, which involved the Navy, the National Maritime Authority and the Air Force, took place at dawn on Tuesday in international waters, about 130 kilometers south of Portugal.
Since the beginning of the year, these three structures, constantly carrying out missions to combat drug trafficking in the Algarve, have already arrested 66 people and seized 28 speedboats with about 30 tons of drugs.
In Tuesday’s operation, the high-speed craft was spotted and controlled by the Air Force, after which it was pursued by two naval assets and three high-speed craft, one from the Navy operated by Marines and two manned by Navy agents. Maritime police. There were 60 canisters of fuel inside.
