The former Proud Boys activist was sentenced Thursday to 17 years in prison for orchestrating an attack on the US Capitol to prevent candidate Joe Biden from winning the 2020 presidential election.
Prosecutors have asked for 33 years in prison for Joseph Biggs, who helped dozens of Proud Boys members and associates march on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Biggs and other elements of the Proud Boys joined the crowd that managed to get past police control and force congressmen to flee, interrupting a joint session of Congress to witness the electoral victory of Democrat Biden, who defeated Republican Donald Trump.
