Autoeuropa will apply a “suspension of production” during the nine-week production stoppage. “The period may be shortened as the solution to the problem develops,” the company’s management told the Working Committee.

Autoeuropa will stop production for nine weeks, from September 11 to November 12, with a “layoff” applied during this period, the Work Commission (CT) said this Thursday.

According to CT of the Volkswagen car plant in Palmela, Setúbal district, the company’s management said this Thursday that “there will be a shutdown for nine weeks”, from September 11 to November 12, but acknowledges that “this period may decrease as the solution to the problem develops” .

On the other hand, the administration of Autoeuropa, which originally announced the six-week shutdown, also told CT that it would “apply ‘suspension'” during the nine weeks of production shutdown.

“Layoff” is a measure that involves the temporary reduction of normal working hours or temporary suspension of employment contracts for market, structural or technological reasons, including disasters or other events that seriously affect the normal operation of the company. .of a company, provided that such measures are necessary to ensure the economic viability of that company and the preservation of jobs.

A statement from CT Autoeuropa added that a meeting with the company is already scheduled for September 4 and 5 “to discuss the financial terms of the ‘downsizing’.”

“Connecticut confirmed today during the meeting [com a administração] that the current situation should not adversely affect the income of all employees,” the document says.

“The company has all the conditions to guarantee these revenues, so we appreciate the efforts of everyone,” – added in the message.

The reason for the shutdown of Autoeuropa’s production, which should also affect the two dozen industrial park companies supplying the Palmela car plant, is the lack of key parts for construction engines, which are produced by a supplier in Slovenia.

This Slovenian company, according to Autoeuropa, was “hard hit” by the floods that occurred in this country last August.
