Authorities found a woman dead at home with signs of violence after a robbery at the house she shared with her father in Penafirme da Mata, municipality of Alenquer.
Rita Cipriano, 43, refused to give the security code the robbers demanded and ended up being tied up and gagged face down. Due to this situation, the victim died from the loss of the ability to breathe.
The father even tried to save his daughter, but was unsuccessful as he was brutally attacked by robbers who forced him to tell them where the rest of the money was.
A couple of thieves managed to escape with thousands of euros, gold and even valuable watches from the safe.
Authorities and INEM psychologists arrived at the scene to provide support and assistance to Manuel Cipriniano, 76, the victim’s father.
The teacher taught at a school in Lisbon.
Rita’s father spoke about the terror he experienced during the robbery
