The discovery of archaeological finds on Avenida Maréchal Gomes da Costa in Porto will delay work on the metrobus line. This Wednesday, Metro do Porto evaluates traffic restrictions on this artery until October.
In a letter sent this Wednesday to residents, the company Metro do Porto, responsible for the work, states that as part of the work taking place between Avenida Maréchal Gomes da Costa and Praça do Imperio, “archaeological finds were discovered, namely a complex of pits located precisely under the metrobus canal, which will require deeper exploration.”
These archaeological excavations, required by law, “aim to assess the possible historical value of this heritage and, from a practical point of view, to prevent the development of work in accordance with certain planning,” the company explains, estimating that the research will last three weeks.
