According to the IPMA, the areas of Viseu, Guarda, Leiria, Castelo Branco and Coimbra are under a yellow warning this Thursday due to the forecast of showers, sometimes heavy and with the possibility of hail, as well as frequent and scattered thunderstorms.
According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), these five areas of mainland Portugal are under a yellow warning this Thursday from 15:25 to 21:00.
During this period, “showers, sometimes heavy, sometimes with hail, especially in mountainous areas” are forecast, as well as “frequent and scattered” thunderstorms.
The remaining 13 districts of mainland Portugal are “without warning” from the IPMA, namely Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Vila Real, Bragança, Lisbon, Santarem, Portalegre, Setúbal, Évora, Beja and Faro.
A yellow warning, the least severe on a scale of three, is issued by IPMA whenever a risk situation arises for certain activities depending on the meteorological situation.
