Ten areas in the north and center of the country are under an IPMA yellow warning this Sunday due to forecast rain, as well as wind and rough seas that have led to the closure and air conditioning of some bars.
According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), the areas of Aveiro, Coimbra, Leiria, Viseu, Guarda, Castelo Branco and Santarem are under a yellow warning due to the forecast of “periods of rain or showers, sometimes heavy and heavy.” accompanied by a thunderstorm” until the end of the day and the beginning of the night.
In the areas of Viana do Castelo, Braga and Porto, the same warning is in effect until 00:00 Monday.
In addition to the rain forecast, coastal areas as far away as Leiria are under the same IPMA alerts forecasting high winds with gusts reaching up to 80 kilometers per hour and rough seas with waves reaching 4.5 metres. .
Due to sea conditions, bars in Vila Praia de Ancora and Portinho da Ericeira are closed to shipping this Sunday, while five others are closed, according to the National Maritime Authority.
Figueira da Foz Bar is closed to boats under 11 meters in length and Aveiro Bar is closed to boats under 15 meters in length.
In the bars of Vila do Conde and Povoa de Varzim, vessels with a draft of more than two meters must practice in the bars only from two hours before high tide until two hours after it.
Regarding the Esposende plank, boats with a draft of more than 0.3 meters should only practice the plank three hours before and three hours after high tide.
A yellow warning, the least severe on a scale of three, is issued by IPMA whenever a risk situation arises for certain activities depending on the meteorological situation.
The maximum temperature forecast for this Sunday will range from 14°C in Guarda to 25°C in Beja. The minimum temperature will range from 11°C in Viseu and Guarda to 23°C in Setúbal.
