15-year-old dies during gym class in Porto

The student had no known health problems.

The incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. The student ran with his classmates for about two minutes. He said he didn’t feel well and ended up falling.

The teacher was the first to come to the aid of the young man. Volunteer firefighters from Porto and INEM continued resuscitation efforts, but about an hour later he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The young man’s colleagues and family received psychological support. This Thursday the class was dismissed from classes.

An autopsy will be critical in determining the cause of death.
